ENJOY AMBIENT, RITUAL PHOTOGRAPHY

Two large and velvety moths visited us last summer. They spent two days with us, resting in the shadow of our studio. We photographed them at the window just before their departure.

The photograph has been inspired by Carlos Castaneda, Flower Power generation's guru, ethnologist and writer passionate about the mythology of the Mexican Indians. For the shamans from the Sonora Desert a visit of a moth was a magical event. For they believed the golden dust covering moth's wings was an essence of secret knowledge.

When one of the moths sat on my friend's painting, we were both very excited and had a little celebration in our garden that evening.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION

We offer acid-free, archival quality, silver-based digital C-type prints in three sizes for open edition prints and two sizes for limited edition prints. ENJOY RITUAL, AMBIENT PHOTOGRAPHY AND PROTECT NATURE

For the shamans from the Sonora Desert a visit of a moth is a magical event. For they believe the golden dust covering moth's wings is an essence of secret knowledge.

Two large, velvety moths spent two days resting in the shadow of my London's studio in summer 2020. When one of them sat on my friend's painting, we were both very excited and had a little celebration in our garden that evening.

I photographed them the next morning, at the window, just before their departure.

The photograph has been inspired by Carlos Castaneda, Flower Power generation's guru, ethnologist and writer passionate about the mythology of the Mexican Indians.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION

Here is a mixed media portrait of one of the moths. I call it Hybrid Photography. I took this photo with an old Nikon in a traditional small frame technique. After developing the film, I scanned the negative and processed it digitally.
There are three versions of the photo, blue (nocturne), yellow (golden) and rose-green.

The photo looks great printed on the giclee Hahnemule Photorag paper.

The matte surface of the paper harmonises well with the photo's graininess and beautifully reflects the softness and texture of the moth's wings.

The acid-free giclee paper will help the photo look fresh for over 100 years.
The photo looks best in the 15.8 by 10.4 inch format. And that's the format we sell it in.

The original 15.8 / 10.4 inches copy will be printed with a 1.4 inch trim. This will make it easier for you to frame. The print's ratio is 3/4.

With the trim, the print has 17.2 inches of height and 11.8 inches of width.

Basically we sell the print, but you can also order it framed.
Please contact us for detailed costs breakdown.

IS THE STATE OF NATURE IMPORTANT TO YOU?

I believe this photo will outlive me, and I reassure you, it's made out of environment-friendly materials. It is biodegradable, but also very light-resistant.

E-mail me to order this photograph framed into natural and recyclable materials. I'll use recyclable materials to pack it, too.
